‘Metal flowers’ is an acousmatic music whose sound palette exploits above all metal. Bronze, steel, lead, tin, gold, silver.... are primarily utilitarian materials, but were also used by artists of all eras.
I took advantage of invitations from sculptors to their workshops to record percussion and long resonant sounds, and then to re-sculpt the acoustic spectra into fine or massive, matt or sparkling, scattered or clustered sound objects.
With a few strings and percussion instruments thrown in for good measure, there's plenty here to invite listeners to venture out on their own among the stems, flowers and weavings of an imaginary utopian wild garden.
On 21 August 2025, creation of "Fleurs de métal" for the 33rd FUTURA 2025 Festival on the theme of science fiction.
Sound material: studio recordings of metal and musical instruments, re-sculpted using the Ondolon tool, synthesizers.
