METAL FLOWERS - opening (1'07)
- ISWC: T-333.335.901.2 Charles-Edouard Platel, composer.
‘Metal flowers’ is an acousmatic music whose sound palette exploits above all metal: bronze, steel, lead, pewter.... materials that were initially utilitarian, but were also used by artists of all eras.
I took advantage of invitations from sculptors to their studios to record percussion and long resonant sounds, and then to re-sculpt the acoustic spectra into fine or massive, matt or sparkling, scattered or clustered sound objects.
And sowing a few strings and instrumental percussion too, listeners are invited to wander among the stems, flowers and weavings of an imaginary utopian wild garden.
